FACTS ABOUT MAPLE HARDWOOD FLOORS
- There are over 200 different species of trees in the maple family mostly found in the northern temperate zones: including much of North America, Canada and Europe.
- The leaves of the maple tree are wide, deeply indented leaves, varying in length from 2 to 5 inches, depending on the species. Find the canadian flag for a reference.
- While most maples have sweet sap, the sugar from rock or hard maple, produces the best sap for maple syrup and sugar for our breakfast meals.
- Sugar Maple goes by the scientific species name Acer Saccharin. Black Maple goes by the scientific name of Acer Nigrum. Soft maples like Red and Silver Maple are also popular. Red Maple is one of the most abundant hardwoods and it's thought to be the most widespread species of forest tree there is. No other species of tree is known to be as adaptive as the Red Maple. The colors of the red and silver maple range from a cream color all the way to a light reddish brown. The strength of red and silver maple isn't as strong as that of the sugar and black maple but are just as beautiful.
