DID YOU KNOW HARDWOOD FLOORING
.........................
- The natural color of hardwood flooring will change with time and
be even more beautiful as the years pass. In bright room that is exposed
to UV rays, you may want to rearrange rugs and furniture every once
in a while to let the hardwood floors naturally evolve in color. -
The primary differentiator between the grades and price of planks
and boards is the degree to which natural characteristics (knots and
mineral streaks) or manufacturing marks (sticker stain) are present.
- Most exotic hardwood flooring and hardwood floors come prefinished
with a 10+ yr warranty. You may also buy unfinished so that you
can match your existing furniture and surrounding accents. Generally,
the closer a plank is cut to the center of the tree, the darker
its overall tone may be. Lighter boards are cut closer to the bark
where the grains are younger. Knots indicate that a limb grew from
that exact spot. Growth rings are determined by climate trends and
mineral/nutrient absorption. Each tree is different; therefore no
two grain patterns are the same.
- America's temperate climates produce forests with hundreds of
hardwood species that represent 40 percent of the trees in the United
States. Some of these are made into the following hardwood floors:
Alder, Ash, Aspen, Basswood, Beech, Birch, Cherry, Cottonwood, Cypress,
Elm, Gum, Hackberry, Hard Maple, Hickory and Pecan, Pacific Coast
Maple, Poplar, Red Oak, Sassafras, Soft Maple, Sycamore, Walnut,
White Oak, Willow and much more.
